Hi, I'm Varun.

I write and make videos about building wealth the modern way: thinking like a professional investor, staying steady when markets move, and keeping more of what you earn after tax.

Where it started

I grew up in a middle-class family where values and education came first. My father is an engineer and my mother a gynecologist, so my sister and I learned early how much learning matters, and we always aimed to go further than our parents had.

My interest in money came from watching my father. He had no training in finance, but he taught himself investing by reading financial newspapers. Seeing someone build that knowledge on his own, out of pure curiosity, shaped how I think about learning to this day.

Learning the craft

I first trained as an engineer, which gave me a habit of breaking problems into parts and checking the numbers. I then completed an MBA in Finance at MDI Gurgaon, one of India's leading management institutes.

Eight years inside the industry

I spent eight years in asset and wealth management, first at EY and then at a venture capital firm. There I learned how professional investors value both established businesses and young startups.

Working closely with experienced investors taught me three things that still guide me: how to judge what a business is really worth, why the market does not always see that value right away, and how patient investors can benefit from that gap.

Practising what I share

I have always invested my own money with the same discipline, and kept learning as markets and products changed. That approach helped me reach financial independence at 34. I share this not as a promise of results for anyone else, but because it is why I trust a patient, well-researched way of investing.

Why Modern Wealth

Indian investors today have more choices than ever: Indian and US stocks, new assets like Bitcoin, and a long list of tax rules to work with. What most people lack is not options, but a clear way to think about them.

Modern Wealth is where I share that thinking, in plain language. It covers three things: structuring family savings so less is lost to tax, making the most of both SIPs and lump-sum investments for the risk taken, and having a plan for whatever mood the market is in.

What's next

I am in the process of registering with SEBI as an Investment Adviser. Once registered, I plan to offer one-on-one guidance for people who want to take their portfolio to the next level. Until then, everything here is for education.
